Surprise! Suprise!

Anyone who has been following the Global Warming saga for any length of time will not be surprised by the "Climategate" revelations. Cooking the books has been the modus operandi since day 1. For evidence of this, we need look no further than the Wegman Report into the "Hockey Stick" fraud, published in 2006.

The Wegman Report identified Michael Mann as the central figure of Global Warming Data Cooking. Under the Findings section on page 4 of the report, it notes:

In our further exploration of the social network of authorships in temperature reconstruction, we found that at least 43 authors have direct ties to Dr. Mann by virtue of coauthored papers with him. Our findings from this analysis suggest that authors in the area of paleoclimate studies are closely connected and thus ‘independent studies’ may not be as independent as they might appear on the surface.

This is a polite way of saying that the concept of 'Peer Review', as practiced by the Global Warming community is a complete sham and a fraud. To make the point even clearer, on page 40 it notes that:

The block (cluster) structure is very clear. Michael Mann is a co-author with every one of the other 42. The black squares on the diagonal indicate that the investigators work closely within their group, but not so extensively outside of their group.

In case anyone wasn't paying attention, it then goes on to make the point that:

it is immediately clear that the Mann, Rutherford, Jones, Osborn, Briffa, Bradley and Hughes form a clique, each interacting with all of the others. A clique is a fully connected subgraph, meaning everyone in the clique interacts with every one else in the clique.

To further round out the analysis, it then notes on the next page that:

In addition to the [above] clique, there are several others that are readily apparent. They are Rind-Shindell-Schmidt-Miller, Cook-D’Arrigo-Jacoby-Wilson, Folland-Vellinga-Allan-Knight, Stahle-Shugart-Therrell-Druckenbrod-Cleveland, Sangoyomi-Moon-Lall-Abarbanel, and Clement-Zebiak-Cane.

And finally, on page 42:

The dominance of Dr. Mann in terms of centrality is very clear comparing Figure 5.3 with Figure 5.4.

The surprise in the CRU Climategate revelations is not that it happened, but that it took so long for it become public. The evidence for it has been hidden in plain view for the last three years.
